Toby Bantug has been serving homemade ice cream (24 flavors!), pastries, and coffee in Westover for the past 12 years. A native of the DC area, he is proud to offer products that are locally made and sourced. The coronavirus restrictions have been difficult because the store itself was closed for two and half months and could only offer delivery and pick-up services – arrangements that presented their own challenges. But the situation has now improved and the shop has reopened with changes to ensure customers stay safe. Masks are mandatory, social distancing is in place, chairs and tables have been removed, plexiglass shields are installed to separate staff from customers, and contact surfaces are regularly disinfected. A new website has also been established: www.tobysicecream.com. Toby is hopeful that his business will return to normal conditions once all restrictions have been removed. Asked how the surrounding community can be most helpful to his business, he replied: “Come in, have a scoop and cool off! We also have coffee!”
